Even after retiring from an active career in the media, Janaka did not step away from his passion for art. Instead, he joined the 2020 Group, a collective that allowed him to devote his time and energy to showcasing his immense talents as an established painter. This transition not only gave him the opportunity to explore new artistic horizons but also allowed him to share his creativity with a different generation of art lovers.
Beyond his comics, Janaka is also recognized as one of the finest watercolor artists in Sri Lanka. His works are marked by a distinct and realistic style that sets him apart from others in the field. His forte includes a wide range of artistic expressions such as portraiture, figurative works, and breathtaking landscapes executed in mediums like watercolor, acrylics, pen, and ink drawings.
